This is my first post started all on my own, here. Don't know what to say, so here's a picture of my car and my wife's CX-5. Yes, we are a Mazda family.
I got my 3 in 2009 and we bought the CX-5 in December 2012.
I'm relatively new to Oppo, but I look forward to conversing with other car nerds on a daily basis. As it stands, I have very few car enthusiast friends. Most of the people I know get bored after my first thirty seconds of car-talk rambling.

Shouldn't be a problem. I've met enough Internet tough guys on car forums through the years to know how annoying they can be. :)

welcome to oppo!
I see you've been acquainted with the one rule of oppo.
Your cars look great BTW! Are they stick or auto?

Thanks, folks. The 3 is a 2008 S Touring hatch. It has an OEM catback MazdaSpeed 3 exhaust, tint (obviously), a Speed 3 rear valence, and Eibach Pro-Kit springs. I also threw in aftermarket HIDs, because when I was in college I thought they were amazingly cool. They'll be coming out soon.

Unfortunately, both autos. Hope that doesn't get me banned. :-) I originally wanted a Speed 3, but I was 19 when I got this car and my insurance on a Speed was astronomical. It was high enough on this car. My next car will likely be a Speed 3, though. Or a new SkyActiv 6 with a manual. But that's a few years away. I'm waiting to see when/if Mazda releases a new Speed 3.

You'll find that a lot of people spend their car time here because of that very problem. Me included.

It won't get you banned :P
I've driven a friend's Auto equipped '10 Mazda3, with the 2.3L, and it's quite a joyful little thing on the road!

Welcome aboard! It's a fun place to talk and converse with other enthusiasts. I know I enjoy some foreign cars, but living in GM territory it's hard to find open minded enthusiasts myself.

Welcome! Nice cars. We were a two-Mazda family for a while, too. I bought an '05 3s hatch and loved flogging it around town for 7 years and 90k miles before selling it to a friend a couple years ago. My wife still has her '08 CX-9 (with almost 140k miles) and that's been a great car for our family (five of us now, and two dogs) - we've taken it to Colorado several times, Florida this spring, Austin, and Wisconsin soon, along with one epic trip to Montana. Mazda may get me back in the fold with this little beast: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/next-mazdaspee…

I'm really hoping that supposed new Speed 3 becomes a reality. It looks/sounds like it will be absolutely epic.
My car has been straight up reliable for the last five years and fifty thousand miles. In fact, the only thing I have done besides regular maintenance is change the passenger side upper motor mount, which is a common problem. It took about fifteen minutes to change. One good thing about this car compared to most like it is the relative simplicity of most repairs.
Also, *knock on wood*, no rust problems, either. :)
